Hi,

I have a problem in the office - some of the computers keep getting that 192 range IP address instead of the regular company one. I thought that someone has connected a wifi router to our network, but after checking everywhere I found nothing. After refreshing IP address through cmd, everything goes back to normal. Is there something else that might be doing this sort of thing? The issue happens with only those computers which are on LAN - wifi is not affected.

Many thanks in advance!

they have to be getting them from some computer or router. next time it gets ones, look at the gateway ip, since this will be the ip that's giving out the ip's and then try to go from there. So say the gateway is 192.168.0.1, then run advanced ip scanner, it will show the MAC address of whatever device is handing out the IP for 192.168.0.1 Then run advanced ip scanner for the ip range your company uses and see if the same MAC address appears.

Oh the irony from the other thread about managed switches lol. Yeah you most likely have 2 dhcp servers running with different scopes.

You can try entering in the default gateway address from one of your 192 range machines into a web browser on that machine and see if you get a login screen for a device. Sometimes you'll be able to identify the device from the login screen, as some have manufacturer and model information displayed. At least you would have a better idea of what you are looking for.
