with thanks to you all

Go to Control Panel \ double click on System \ Advanced \ Startup and Recovery, Settings \ Edit \ and copy the last line and paste it below it, and replace the part where it says: "partition(1)" with: partition(2)... Or you can copy the text below and paste it in the open text file (Boot.ini), to replace the text with a single windows XP line. Next exit saving the changes to the file. That will add the second line to choose between new and older Windows XPs.

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

EDIT: If you have the Home Edition, just replace Professional with Home.
