I am trying to upgrade a 3-year old rig and I just purchased an affordable PCI 3.0 GPU, but I now realize my motherboard only supports up to 2.0. I know PCI is backwards compatible, but I want to take full advantage of the new GPU.

My first question is, will making the jump to PCI 3.0 compatibility show a noticeable upgrade in performance? Second, if so, do you have any suggestions for an affordable 3.0 motherboard that is compatible with the rest of my rig? Thanks!

Here are my specs:

Old GPU:
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT 1GB PCI Express Video Card

AMD AM3+ does not support 3.0 and there is little to none performance difference with HD7850! Here high end cards compared http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Intel/Ivy_Bridge_PCI...
Stick to what you got.
