Computer Sounds Like A Fan + Heats Up

Hello!

I play Guild Wars 2 in particular which is a very CPU heavy game. My GPU is a GTX 560 but my CPU is an AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0 GHz.

My motherboard is also standard and is very bad compared to my GPU, just like my CPU.

I'm wondering if this is why when I play Guild Wars 2 sometimes my computer starts to sound like a loud fan running and this will happen for about a minute straight and then stop. My computer also starts to feel hot in the back, as if there is a lot of hot air being pushed out of it.

The fan noise is starting to happen more and more frequently as well.

My GTX 560 GPU starts to heat up when playing GW2 so I use an EVGA program that I change the fan speed on the GPU to ~65% so my GPU always stays ~80 degrees or lower when playing GW2.

Why is it heating up and making this fan-like noise, if anyone can help. Thanks!

Okay, you can get a program like CPU-Z, or it may be in your bios, but I think the best program is Corsair Link (You can download it from their website). It's probably because your using many more cores and your CPU fan has to speed up.

Have you checked your CPU temps? Does this only happen when gaming? What is your fan layout in your case? Have you cleaned the dust out of it in a while? What CPU Cooler do you have?

2 things you can do. First clean out the dust in your computer - there may be some clogging the CPU heatsink, and just getting it out may fix your issue. Second you also want to actually monitor at the temperature of the CPU and GPU to really see which one is heating up.

The other thing to look at (and you should be able to tell by the temps) is whether you have a fan issue or maybe you need to replace the thermal paste.

You obviously didn't read what I said.

I'm not sure of what program to use to check my CPU temperature.

This only happens when gaming.

I cleaned out my dust this past summer.

When playing WITHOUT hearing the fan-like noise, the CPU was around mid-upper 60's in temperature.

Okay, thats not too unusual. There is probably a fan controller system on your PC that is auto controlling the fans. Can you recognize what fan is making the noise and maybe take a picture?

Unfortunately I don't have the tools with me to take my PC apart right now to find out. There is a lot of hot air coming out of the back, however, when I'm playing games and this happens. When it happens again I'll check the CPU temp and see if it happens to be that.
