As title really. I have a couple of 300gb 2.5" SAS disks, HP branded but different makes with different firmware listed on the labels.

Will it make any difference?

If you intend to RAID them it could.

Hmm... I do intend to RAID them indeed. This is a pain in the backside.... First I'm having to buy HP disks, then I'm having to buy HP disks on the same HP firmware..... Argh!

Such is the nature of RAID. Firmware & geometry should always be matched. In a perfect world all the drives would be from the same batch.

Indeed! Well not the news I had ideally hoped for, but at least I will know the likely cause of any seemingly odd issues I might encounter.

Many thanks!
