Installed new SSD, turned into "System Reserved" partition?

Hi guys,

I'm at a loss here because I have no idea what I've done wrong.

I recently bought a 120GB SanDisk SSD.

I received it today and went to fit it. I was told by a friend that the easiest thing to do was to disconnect my current 1TB HDD, connect the 120GB SSD and install Windows on that. Then reconnect the 1TB HDD and things should be hunky dory.

Things did not go to plan. I ended up with a partition called "System Reserved" which, from what I've read, is where the boot files are stored.

That's fine, I don't have a problem with that.

I restarted my computer after installing drivers etc and when the computer started back up it booted from my HDD and not my SSD...

I now have 2 "System Reserved" partitions, one of which I suspect is my SSD, however, it is saying its capacity is only 349MB (which isn't the case).

My SSD is still showing up in Disk Management with the correct capacity shown. I just can't seem to access it.

Anyone willing to throw me a bone? :/

Thanks in advance

EDIT: I don't really care if I have to format everything and lose all my stuff (since I have already backed up as much of it as I can to an external HDD)...

Did you set up the SSD as boot disk in BIOS?
Usually in your setting, boot priority should be set like DVD/CD Drive - USB - SSD - HDD.

System Reserved is automatically formed when you install Windows. You don't need to concern yourself about that.

I have tried to set my SSD as the boot disk. But it just seems to bypass it and boot from the HDD...

Is there anyway that I can just wipe everything and start from scratch?

Okay. So that's me back from trying to boot with only the SSD plugged in.

Things are not looking good...

After changing my boot sequence (setting my SSD to the boot disk). I restarted my computer and was faced with an error screen.

"A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed"

I have no idea what device it is referring to. The only new "device" I have installed recently is my SSD.

It then gives me Windows error code 0xc000000e

I tried using my Windows 8 install disk to repair Windows but it gave me an error saying that it could not do it then directed me to \System32\Logfiles\srt\SrtTrail.txt

Any thoughts?

Thanks for your help

Can anyone help me? Feel like I've just dropped cash on something I can't use.

I've read that this may have something to do with the BCD being missing or damaged.

Is there anyway way to fix this? Or is my SSD fudged?

No. I don't know much about this stuff.

Should I have done that?

I suppose I'm a moron for thinking I could just plug it in and it would work. I should've read up more about this stuff...
