AMD processor switch Question??
Okay, so here is my current rig:
Processor: AMD FX-4100
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-M68MT-S2P (rev. 3.1) NVIDIA® GeForce 7025
Ram: 8GB
HD: 1TB + 120GB SSD Hybrid
My question is am I able to upgrade my current processor (FX-4100) to an AMD Phenom II x4 without losing a bunch.. I'm currently running windows 7 with 2 Hard drives (I dual boot with Ubuntu)
If I lose the OS no big deal, I just would like to maximize my performance for around $200.. Or will I have to swap the Mobo aswell??

Those CPU's would be parallel or similar in performance. Here is the CPU support list for your board http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=3922 really nothing that I would upgrade to since no support for FX6300.
