Hello, so I plan on building a PC for gaming and I can't fit 8gb in my budget. So is 4GB fine for todays games or will I need to go with 8gb? Thanks

Solution
Not really no, there are too many games these days that clock in at up to 6GB.

What is your budget? Where are you purchasing?
What have you decided on already?
Maybe we can help you optimize.

It all depends on what other hardware you are putting into your PC - for example a 7950/70/90 or a GTX 760/670/770/680/780/780ti/690 . . . will not be able to run with just 4gb of RAM. But if you only had a GTX660/Radeon HD 7870 or less then 4gb RAM should be sufficient (bare in mind gameplay will be much better with 8gb of RAM).

You will be able to play games with that, but trust me you will will not be able to play games to their full ability with just 4gb. I suggest paying $35/$45 more on a 2x4gb RAM module.
Here is a good cheap module kit that will run games fine with a HD 7870: http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Ballistix-PC3-12800-240-Pin-BLS2CP4G3D1609DS1S00/dp/B006WAGGUK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1384536654&sr=8-1&keywords=crucial+ballistix+sport+8gb

well my budget is 300$ or less. that sounds really low but I already have the CPU(A10 5800K), PSU(TR-600) and I am using a motherboard and hard drive from an HP computer.
