I have 2 2gb ram and a 4gb ram chip. It worked and the system had 8gb ram written there.
But then i have a 32 bit operating system

I decide to upgrade to 64 bit but it gave me a blue screen. It took me a long time to figure out what was wrong so i took out the 4 gb chip and the installation was fine but when i put it back in the blue screen appears on startup again

Solution
Well 32-bit window can access only 4GB of RAM memory (unless if you were using PAE ). So I suspect the 4gb was broken all along but the system wasn't using it so it could run just fine , thats kinda weird though. Have you tried the 4gb alone ? Can you boot your PC while it has the 4gb stick ONLY?

Not all the motherboards work like that in dual channel. Its better to advice the motherboards manual.
