Hello all, I have a foxconn AM3 support motherboard with an athlon II x2 processor, 8 gigs of ram and a 550w psu. The harddrive I have is a seagate barracuda 250 GB harddrive IDE support. When I try to install windows 7 to the device it installs but will not boot from the device. In the BIOS menu the drive is there and is the primary drive. I put the installation disc in again and when I go to choose where to store the OS again my harddrive shows it has OS on it. I reformatted the harddrive to try again and it says the system may not be able to boot from this hard drive. My question is why, and should I just swap a 320 gig SATA support hard drive in.

When you reformatted the drive, did you lat the installer format it? When you go to install Win 7, delete all the partitions from the drive, and then install to the empty space. This will allow Windows will create it's hidden boot partition, and then the C partition.

My hdd is set as master and my disc drive is slave, and no there is no bios update, and yes I reformatted through the windows installation setup, deleted partitions and tried to install to the hdd and now its an error saying it may not be bootable, i may just try a different harddrive via SATA and use that as my storage device for windows. Should I keep the other HDD in and have it as a slave ? Im gonna have the 320 hdd configured as the bootable drive and primary
