Looking for a graphics card to assume some of the workload currently handled by my dual core processor. I have 300w power supply--replacement undesirable. I play Civ V and Sim City on low to medium settings. Game play is fair, but there are some flickers and Civ V turns can take awhile. I am thinking that a simple graphics card will streamline play, eliminate the flickering, and enable me to play on medium to medium-high settings.

My (budget) build:
- 90 GB SSD (for OS)
- 7200 rpm HD
- Intel Core i3-3225 Ivy Bridge 3.3GHz LGA 1155 55W Dual-Core
- ECS H77H2-M3(1.0) LGA 1155 Motherboard
- 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 SDRAM 1600
- SeaSonic SS-300ES Bronze 300W

From what I've read I am likely limited to 6450. If I get a GPU at that level will it provide what I am looking for? Suggested products welcome. Looking to spend less than $100.

Solution
it matters in a small amount but either way any of the cards listed will do fine. 7790 if you upgrade the power supply or 7750 as is i personally think would be best

i agree but would consider 7770 or 7870 as the prices have dropped recently and are a bit better

No, you are not limited to the lowly Radeon HD 6450.

You can install a Radeon HD 7750 DDR5 which is the equivalent to the Radeon HD 6770 and consumes a lot less power. There is the DDR3 version, while it is less expensive it is also slower than the DDR5 version. I have never seen any benchmarks for the DDR3 version, but I would say there will likely be a 20% reduction in performance.

I recommend one of the following Radeon HD 7750 DDR5 GPUs:

Sapphire Radeon HD 7750 = $75 after rebate
I prefer this one because the hot air is exhausted out the back of the graphics card.

PowerColor Radeon HD 7750 = $65 after rebate
Rather than exhausting the heat out the back of the card, it is simply dumped into the PC case which can increase the internal temps a bit. This is the reason why I prefer the Sapphire.

Didn't know the monitor mattered. The PC is connected to a 42" LED TV.

Both of the cards i suggested would work with no problems with a SS 300w
