AMD 290 heat and noise - how bad is it?

I want one of these.. no, TWO of these. I want them BAAAAADLY.

But I am concerned about the heat and the noise. How bad is it? What do I have to do to keep it cool and quiet? I don't know how to watercool and I certainly don't know how to replace the cooler.

How bad is it? I know the popular consensus is waiting for aftermarkets, but man, that could take forever...

And on that note, how bad is the 290X?

Where have you been. Not a problem at all with Nvidia and AMD has it 90% conquered.

I've heard from several sources that aftermarket models are due out by the end of November.

let me add - do thorough research on microstutter if you intend to get dual cards (whether amd or nvidia). i hear bad bad things about multi-gpu setups.
