Hello!

New member; computer geek for years.

I'm posting because I have found this old thread:
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/277479-28-upgrade

Very helpful, except all the upgrade power supplies suggested by Saint19 seem to have been superseded by newer models.

Now I'm wondering how to find a PS with the "extra" 6 pin power connector and (per my measurements) a much larger size.

Does this one seem like it would be best or can I go with a cheaper standard consumer PS?

I need the boost as I currently have 4 WD RE3 drives connected to an Adaptec 2820 Raid card and am getting errors starting up. Currently a drive is powered externally to boot the machine. I will soon replace the system fan and the 10 yr old IDE drive (!), which may fix the booting issue, but I also want to add another RAID drive for a hot spare or RAID 6 so the extra power would be nice.

Thanks all, any help is much appreciated.

Looks nice, but I'm afraid the shiny cord bar on the back will not fit the XW case (see page#49 - http://bizsupport.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00215109/c00215109.pdf).
Also, would I use the PCI-E connectors for the Six pin "Auxiliary Power" connector? I think they are 12v, but haven't been able to get a reading on them.

Thanks

Thanks!
