I have an Advent DT2111 - can I change the motherboard?

Also, I am getting a new gpu (probably GTX 670) - I know that I will need a new PSU but am unsure which one. Can you recommend any?

Thanks,

You probably could, but here's why you don't want to:

1) Your OS is tied to the board, so if you change motherboards, you need a new OS too (at least $90).
2) It's going to be a pain in the butt getting the new motherboard to function well in the old case (i.e. power switch, power LED, HDD LED, reset switch, etc)...the pre-built system always has these wired in a block, not separately, so it's a pain to make it work with a new motherboard (been there, done that).

You system has a PCI-E 1 lane, so you can put a full card in, as long as the length will fit in the case. When it comes to power supplies think Corsair, Seasonic, XFX, OCZ, PCP&C, Antec and a couple others.

This may seem like a stupid suggestion (I don't know that much about PCs), but could I get a new case and get someone to transfer the components etc. and wire them up with a new motherboard?

I know that I would still have to buy an OS :(  but I would probably be willing to do that once i get a bit more money

Also, for a PSU, how many watts do you think I should get if I will be upgrading the GPU to a GTX 670 and maybe the motherboard to a decent one (haven't decided yet but maybe MSI Z87 MPower Max if I can afford it - maybe overkill?)

Thanks again,

Yeah, you could do that (basically all you'll be keeping is: CPU & cooler, optical drive, memory and hard drive).

You would just need to make sure the motherboard will support the CPU you're keeping, and other than that you'd be fine. I think you're running an i5-2320, so you'll need an LGA 1155 socket motherboard.

Two things on that motherboard:
1) I don't recommend MSI motherboards, poor QA
2) That is the Haswell 1150 socket, so you can't put your CPU in it.
Here's my suggestion (assuming you're in the UK, based on your current PC, if you're not in the UK I can give you another idea):
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0099LECLY/?tag=pcp0f-21 (£31 and it isn't overkill, since you can't really overclock your current CPU anyway)

For PSU, you should be fine at 550W or so.
