This build is inspired by the Murderbox MKII Gold. I really want the components to match the black and gold theme (except the power supply because it won't be visible). I will be overclocking and watercooling, but this thread is just about the system components for now.

Approximate Purchase Date: a couple of weeks (to get some black friday deals hopefully)

Budget Range: flexible, but goal is $3000 or less including full custom water loop ($1000+).

System Usage from Most to Least Important: benching, gaming, general usage / internet.

Parts Not Required: monitor, mouse/keyboard, secondary/storage hard drives.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg, amazon, others.

Country: USA

Parts Preferences: Intel CPU. All components black or gold.

Overclocking: Yes, CPU and graphics card.

SLI or Crossfire: No, single graphics card.

Monitor Resolution: Re-using 2 monitors, 1600x1200 and 1980x1200.

Additional Comments:

Here is my proposed parts list:

I'd appreciate any and all feedback on this proposed build! Any changes you'd suggest?

Thanks!

Solution
16 GB is fine, 860 will allow for most anything....4930K is a great PU and the 2011 socket is very powerful, also it's Quad channel so DRAM should be based on a 4 stick set, if budget allows for it, a great move, will keep you happier longer and will run anything out there

Thanks for the suggestion! However, I don't think my artistic/craftsmanship abilities are up to that task. I'd really rather not do any physical case mods or painting :)

Any other feedback?

Is the 16GB memory overkill? Not enough?

Is the 860W power supply enough for some heavy overclocking on CPU and graphics card?

I found I could change the CPU to the i7-4930k for an extra $120 through my company's employee discount program. This would also require me to change the motherboard to the ASUS x79 Deluxe which would be an additional $105, so total cost ~$225. Do you think this upgrade would be worth it?
