Hello, new to the forum. I have the Antec 900 case and recently updated my motherboard to the Crosshair V Formula Z with the AMD FX 9370 8 core black edition that came with a water cooler. The CPU fan is a 4 pin but connector is a three pin ? Only three pin connector on motherboard I plug in computer shuts down. I unplug computer boots no fans turn (2). If I plug the fans into the motherboard directly the fans turn on. But computer shuts down. I am really at my wits end. No manual or anything I can find online. Water cooler sounds to be working but temps keep going up. It shot to 140 f before I did hard shut down.

Solution
according to your motherboard manual

2 x CPU Fan connector(s) (4pin)
3 x Chassis Fan connector(s) (4pin)
3 x Optional Fan connector(s) (4pin)

I don't know you found a 3 pin, but I doubt it's a fan header. lol. Plug it into a 4 pin, it's fine to plug a 3 pin fan connector into a 4 pin header, it will only fit 1 way. properly.

It's a stock kit from asetec . I plugged the main power into USB 910. The three pin into the only three pin on the motherboard and the two fans into the remaining wire off the water cooler. The fans connectors are female and the other wire is a male. The fans do not turn on when computer boots

The CPU fan connector on the motherboard is a 4 pin. The wire coming out of the water cooler is a three pin. Any suggestions. Again if I plug the three pin connector from the water cooler into the motherboard. No fans turn on and computer attempts to boot 5-8 seconds later the computer shuts off promptly giving me an OC code on the motherboard. But if unplugged(3 pin) still no fans but my computer boots all the way to bios. But with no cooling for the CPU I run the risk of damage to my new CPU.
