window 7 update for IE 9 error code 9c48

I have been trying for ages to apply the Windows Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems and get Error details: Code 9C48 even tried IE10 same error. I have run the Windows system update readiness tool, sfc/scannow, several mrfixits, windows update diagnostic etc etc.. IE9 is NOT in my programs list so cannot uninstall, I tried the uninstall using the cmd line and it is still there. When looking at the cbs log I get heaps of error messages about CBS Watchlist Package Missing 0x80070002. It appears lots of people have this problem with updating ie9, my machine is a Dell Inspiron N5110 i7 running windows 7 home premium which came with everything preloaded.

Why install ie 9? when you can ie 11 (ie 9 doesn't support youtube, and it's dated.)

You need to uninstall the regkeys in the system settings thats authenticating or corrupting your uninstall.

I had a problem like this 2 years ago, it didn't permit me to remove a uninstall so i had to severely uninstall it with the registery keys. (but doing so on things you've purchased can become voided, like a subscription key, or authenticity on legal items, resulting in it returning to trial mode.)

Since your worried, id do a system restore point before all this happened, it will reset the registry keys for you.

I9 isn't apart of the windows kernal if its in the registry key.

The exe files keys are registered inside windows like a virus housed in a body, and when you try to update you cannot because you need to delete those keys. while its natural for all programs to stall their information into the registry for legal reasons sometimes they can become persistant and manaul install will not do, you need to delete the source from the registry editor.

You can do it 2 ways, delete from cmd or registry.

How far back is your restore point because it will work,

Delete everythiong associated with internet explorer 9, all updates everything for new clean install for ie 10.

There can be sever incompatibilty issues if your updates wrong.

Okay, 2 weeks ago you say, well when did you try updating your internet explorer, was it few days ago?

If so, make a restore point back to those 2 weeks ago, your keys will reset to their previous.

And so all the issues your having for clean install.

My windows update for IE9 first started to fail back in jul 12 and I have been trying ALL the "mrfixits" scanow, etc .
All to no avail so thought right will wait till they bring out IE10 and when I tried that it also fails with the same update error. So unfortunately going back to my earlies restore point wont solve the issue with the registry.

Well no since you told me its registry keys been like that since july. geez, its corrupt, and givn the saverity of it.

I would recommend doing it manually. 32 bit ie10 but ie 11 much better (google anhilates bing) except google chrome.

ie 10 32 bit
or (choose your flavour)
ie 10 64 bit.

So, any luck. did you delete the registry on internet explorer 9.

If not i'll make a guide up fo you; that is if your encountering more headaches then what's needed.
