there is no other information on the CPU chip. It just has numbers I entered one of these on newegg and got this: AMD Phenom 9600 Agena 2.3GHz Socket AM2+ Quad-Core Desktop Processor

Give me a price, like how much would it cost me to build a better system.

DayZ 2, Primal Carnage, maybe I'll try an mmo. The thing is I already have this but it messed up so I'm contemplating getting a diagnostic on it and repairing it OR building a new pc. I have never built one before but I think I'll be alright looks simple enough.

A legit case? Or the one from your old comp, because that may not work.

Your Base total is $517, which is good for a your budget. It might be more like $525 though cause of the shipping with the phantom. But the other shipping with amazon is actually free because its free shipping on all orders over $35. Tell me if you cant do that. I did 1 4gb stick so you can upgrade later,

I can do that man. I'm thinking though, do you think I should wait for black friday or cybermonday? I have never done any of this before so I have no idea if websites like newegg or amazon discount these items.

Yes, i would actually recommend posting a new thread asking for a build and your budget 1 or 2 days before black friday. You might get some sweet deals. And Newegg and amazon do a lot, they even have some pre-BF sales going on. I got a Fractal Design Define R4 for $80, its usually around 110. Its a really nice case. But do what i suggested and you might be able to get a better GPU or something like that.

cool thanks a lot man you've been a big help. I guess I'll give up on this old machine. I've been taking it apart this whole time and it's helping me see how everything works. Can't wait to actually build one on my own and get it running.

No Problem, when you actually get everything and are ready to build, make sure you watch some videos on building PC's so you dont ruin anything haha. Things like grounding yourself, not working on carpet etc

Eh no big deal, its just it can build up static electricity and damage components. You're probably fine.
