Should I use an ethernet bridge?

I just built my own gaming PC and am tired of faulty wireless signals. I have heard that ethernet bridges are great and act as a wired connection while providing much better connection. Is this true? Also I don't fully understand how they work. My router is not in the same room as my computer and I don't want to run cables all over my house. Would I have the bridge in my room and just run a cable from that to my desktop? If so, that would work. Do you think I should get an ethernet bridge for reliable gaming connection or go with a PCIe card/adapter? What products would you recommend?
Thanks,
Dylaan
