How to transfer photos from Surface tablet to PC?

There are lots of articles and Microsoft makes it super easy to get photos, videos and other files to the Tablet... but how do I get them from the tablet to the PC?

Assume I have no wifi, and both computers are Windows 8.
Do I have to use SkyDrive / email / flash drive to move the files? Is there a way to plug it into the computer via USB to get the pictures?

This should allow you to transfer files directly.

That was the simplest method I could find. You are essentially connecting 2 computers via a USB cable.

Go to the desktop then just drag from the pictures folder to a jump drive that is plugged in.

how would you transfer files from one your computer to your laptop? through usb?
your surface doesnt have a internet connection? that way you would only be able to transfer through a flash drive
a network connection even through wifi should be quicker than that
my surface rt is in the same homegroup as my computer (through wifi) and so i just drag the photos to a shared file
