XFX 7850 for Final Upgrade

Hello Everyone,

I am just about to make the last purchase in a series of several upgrade I have done over the past 18 months about. This last upgrade is to top off my system, which I will consider the best it ever needs to be, and won't upgrade again for the next 5 years or so.

I have a PNY 7850, and the weakest part of my system is the graphics. So I plan to buy a second one to use in crossfire. I want to know how good are the XFX Core Edition cards, since that is what I currently am thinking to buy.

Thanks for any input.

Hey thanks for the post.

I have seen that one and honestly that was my original thought. Big fan of the MSI parts. The only reason I am not buying that one is because I am wanting to get two games from the Never Settle Forever promotion. All of the 7850 cards on Newegg and on almost all other sites are completely sold out, but I found one that has the XFX Radeon 7850 2GB single fan and the Never Settle Forever Silver for $135 after MIR.

There are a few others I am considering between which were a little more expensive, I think the next best one was one price wise was a Sapphire card at $150 with the games, and I think there is one more maybe at a decent price and still has the Never Settle Forever games with it. So I am trying to decide what is best between the cards. I think I will probably end up with the XFX, but want make sure its not like a frequent dead card or terrible cooling performance.

That makes sense. Sapphire is a better name in AMD cards, so it might be worth the $15, but I'm sure either would work just fine. The games are an excellent selling point.

They really are. I got my first 7850 through an earlier never settle deal. I love Bioshock Infinity and the new Tomb Raider was well worth the play through. None of the other titles offered are quite as interesting to me as those too, but I've heard Sleeping Dogs is really good, and if they don't come out with another game for it before the end of the year I've heard the Hitman game is pretty good too.

Thats honestly the big reason I want to upgrade now, the bundles were so hard to find and are so few left, and I know I will make the upgrade at some point. Best to do it now while I can get some free games with it.

Here are the possible choices listed on Newegg. Newegg has better pics and information on them.

The XFX with the games for $132.99 and free shipping is this model:

Sapphire model at $149.99 (Or OC'd model for $153.99) with $2.99 shipping.

And those are the best choices on them.
I think you may be right and both of them will work fine, I am sure the Sapphire has better cooling, but as long as the XFX isn't like terrible cooling I would rather save the cost I think. It worries me a little cause its shiny and looks real nice, and that worries me it won't cool as well.

That is a good point, and it even went up 2% over night since you posted. The companies I am ordering from are a little bit behind the scenes PC shops so they don't have the best warranty programs themselves if any. But they are the only ones with the Game bundles left in stock since no one knows to buy from them.

For the Xfx cars a lot of the people giving 1 star reviews say that XFX is giving them terrible customer service and lots of problems getting their cards fixed, so though I really want to save on buying XFX, its not worth the risk of being stuck with an expensive piece of metal to hold the door open.

I have a few questions about the Sapphire cards now, but I will open it in a new thread because otherwise I don't think anyone with a sapphire card will see it.
