Recently I bought an Radeon R9 270X. I tried connecting it to my Samsung XL2370HD monitor via HDMI and got bad looking, unusually sharp, picture, with strong font shadows. When connected via DVI the picture is normal.
I would like to use the monitor via HDMI, because the XL2370HD only allows changing the "backlight" setting HDMI mode. The (unchangeable) default backlight setting in DVI mode is too intense for me, especially at nigh

you can use the DVI conector, DVI is as good as a HDMI.
also you can try Magic Tune software to get that sharp down.

Hi juanjostorreshernndez,
I am currently using DVI because HDMI looks too ugly.
As I wrote in my original post I need to use the HDMI mode in order to decrease the BACKLIGHT option, which is unfortunately locked in DVI mode.

I recently bougt a SAMSUNG TV 32' UN32EH5000 Series 5 FULL HD LED TV, and I faced the same problem, just use the TV options and corrected the extreme sharpness, I am using it actualy as my monitor via HDMI, it looks just great now.
what about Magic-Tune software ?

I will try using Samsung MagicTune when I come home.

Thank you for your suggestions.

I changed the name of the HDMI connection to "PC" in the sources list of the monitor, using the "Edit Name" option.
The picture quality immediately changed, and now it's fine.

Now I have another problem.
When the computer turns off the monitor just keeps displaying a "No signal" message indefinitely. When using DVI the monitor enters it's standby mode when no signal from the graphics card is present.
The same thing happens when it "turns off" the monitor after some specified time (e.g. 10 min).

I am not sure if this new question requires me to start a separate thread.
