Intel 4930 is best if budget is up to it.
If not 4770k 4670k is good.

Xeon 1230V3 is good option too if you do not OC.

Intel 4930 is an overkill for a home system.
i7 4770K is better for both gaming and video stuff.
but remember if you're not doing heavy video stuff then i7 is an overkill coz it will not help in gaming much coz i7s are actually hyperthreaded i5s for normal video editing and heavy gaming you can have i5 4670K if your on budget otherwise i7 4770K is the best option.

Little off topic: It blew my mind the first time I was told that i5 and i7 processors are actually made in the exat same way. But the ones that turn out to be great from the manufacture process are made into i7's and the not so good ones are made into i5's! (I could be mis-remembering though)

AAAAAAAa.....hahahahahaahah.
i think you better understand my laugh ....LOL
difference between i5 and i7 is that i5 cheaps were not made for hyper threading and i7 cheaps was.actually both where made in same die. LOL. but i i7 now is totally different then i5s.

How?

This is i7 for a price i5?

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Xeon+E3-1...

Xeon is cheap and strong option.
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80646e31230v3

V2 is cheaper.

Xeon is cooler cpu. No iGPU and still it do have HT + 8 treads http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Xeon+E3-1...

Sae cpu as the 4770 (k) only diffrence is 100MHz and no iGPU (my frend) No u you are not my frend.

But you need to look benefits over the cpu. Gaming or not.
If OP do not OC then xeon is best buy. If you look price vs performance.

Any cpu can do gaming. Even cheapest i5 can do gaming just fine. Better have HT + 8 treads if budget is up to it?

Xeon is lot cheaper than 4770k or 4770.
And you can save lot with mobo. Because xeon you can not OC. So cheapest mobo is just fine. And you do not need any expensive cpu cooler ither. So you can save there a lot.
