CPU for HD7850 on a very tight budget

Hello :)

I've decided to break my piggy bank and go for an HD 7850 GPU :D

Since it's a gaming rig, I feel the choice to invest in the GPU is justified, but it severely limits my CPU + MB budget.

What I can reasonably afford in my region is:
1. i3 3240 + GIGABYTE GA-B75M-D2V
2. A8 5600K + ASUS F2A55-M (20$ cheaper)

Or will I be better off with an HD7770/7790 for one of these CPUs?
If so, the MB chipset could be upgraded.

AMD FX series is not an option because these CPUs and AM3+ MBs are way overpriced here.

Other parts:
2x4GB DDR3 1600 RAM
600W Chieftec PSU (nothing more decent is available)
Resolution 1024p, 1080p later on.

Any advice on the CPU (listed or something different) is very much appreciated!

athlon x4 750k ( 79.99 amazon)
MSI FM2-A75MA-E35 (59.99 Newegg)
some matx case, smaller, cheaper, better
Combo price: 139.98 dollars not including matx case

Comes in alot cheaper, and it kicks ass in gaming with 7850

Another intel choice is:

Intel pentium g2020 2.9 ghz processor (57.05 amazon)
B75MA-P45 motherboard matx (77.00
matx case
134 dollars not including matx case.

Intel one is 4 dollars cheaper, but is worse, so i would get the amd combo :D

If you want to strictly go in your budget you can go with I3 4130 which is kinda a dual core i5 4670k with hyperthreading, almost same performance in all games for much cheaper price :D (129 dollars) with MSI B85-G41 (ATX BOARD THIS TIME!!! at 75 dollars)
Combo price is 204 dollars :D

Thanks for the suggestions, but the catch is I'm from SE Europe.

Not everything available in the US is imported to my country.
And what the resellers do bring in is usually priced on avg. 20-35$ above Newegg prices X_X

The i3 4130 looks tempting but for 152$ I simply can't afford it.

The Athlon x4 750k got me thinking, though it would probably do better OC-ed (please correct me if I'm wrong here).
Will a A75 MB allow me to do it?

And would the lack of L3 cache hut a lot?

Yes, lack of L3 chace is going to hurt a bit while gaming. If you can't afford a better cpu right now. The best thing you could do is wait some more time, save some more money. And buy at least an fx 6300 and asus m5a97 r2.0 they both will approx cost you $208. If you upgrade your cpu right now, you will have to stay with it atleast 2 more years. By the time you will be hardly be able to play games on minimum using i3. unless it's 3-4th gen. So you should really wait some time and buy at least an fx 6300 with the motherboard I recommended ( it is really cheap as considered to others, and can do the job just fine). So consider my opinion. Or go for intel i3 3220 which will cost around $120 in US, and newegg.

*Sigh* Budget is a bit tricky...I have ~200$ to spend locally on CPU + MB.
It would equate to ~150-155$ in Newegg prices without any rebates.

If I downgrade to an HD 7790 the FX 6300 fits just fine. Do you think it's worth it?

Another option is to keep the 7850 and the 6300, but it means a 880G chipset MB :(

x4 750K Is a excellent cpu, that is why i recommended it for limited budget, bunch of youtubers like austin evans prefer this cpu in a budget build, and no, l3 cache isn't going to hurt a lot, while gaming most of your money you need to invest in a gpu, and only thing you need to care about with your cpu is that it doesn't bottleneck the gpu, and a 750k will do good for all amd gpu's, till arround 290x where getting a better cpu is needed, a75 mobos will let you overclock the 750k very good at a small heat.

Are you serious? i3 is way better than a8 apu's. it has much better per core performance and it will win in much game scenraios unless the intergraded gpu is used which isn't the case here.

No, there is a new haswell i3 series, it is well never than 6300, and did you hear what op said? No fx cpu's. Very expensive in his country.

Always get the better gpu than your cpu, especially when you will be upgrading to 1080p gaming later.

Austin Evans benchmarked new i3's with hyperthreading, they are just like i5, exact same performance in gaming, for 120 dollars

Go with a FX 4300 or FX 6300. The FX 6300 is a baller when OC'd!

I currently use a Phenom II x4 840 and a HD 7870 Ghz which is less powerful than both those CPUs. And I use it for 1440P.

(FX 8350 on the way! Later this month yo!)

Yes, they might be similar to the i5s, but that benchmarks are taken on synthetic applications, not even real ones. And Games have no advantage of hyperthreading. So there is no similar difference between i3s and i5s in gaming as games don't use hyperthreading.
