Hi All,

I wonder if you can assist?

I am trying to install windows 8 on my new system.
ASRock, FM2A75 PRO4-M
Kensingtopn 60GB SSD

I have the SSD plugged into SATA0 and the Option Drive PLugged into Sata 4.

When i try run the windows install, the installer goes just past the logo and gives a BSOD about I/O Error.

I have looked all over the net, and tiried many things, however nothing worked.

I then saw a post about turning on AHCI, so i had a look in my bios and AHCI was already turned on.

After turning AHCI off, and setting it back to IDE the installer was able to install windows.

Note, that with AHCI on i was able to install UBUNTU with no issues?

Your board is certified for Windows 8.1 already. Might need a BIOS flash before it stops bluscreening. Latest version is 2.60:

I updated the BIOS and changed the SATA mode back to ACPI, note i had to update bios using a thumb drive for the firmware to flash.
