Hello, I am having a problem with my current PSU as it is not delivering enough power to my GTX780 "or atleast thats what i assume" as i posted in this thread http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1882283/crashing...
i set the power limit to 50% , just so that it wouldn't crash.
its really a kick in the balls not being able to utilize the power of the 780... as such, i just got myself a new case and now looking for a modular or a semi modular to go with it.

now two problems came up
1) i am afraid that i will make a bad choice and get stuck with another PSU not delivering enough power to the 780.
2) I have a limit of 100$

i have created a list below, with modular power supplies and i wish you guys do not go over the 100$ at amazon, i may look into other sites, but so far amazon give me the least tax's.

http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/power-supply/#w=700,600&s...

Note: the list is from 600W to 799W, some say 600W is enough for a 780 but according to newegg PSU calc, i need around 644W, i wish to have more just for upgradability. "another SSD or HDD or whatever" so i wish for 700W+

EDIT: the above list only lists from amazon and 600W-799W, i changed it to all merchants + 600W-899W of course i still have a total price "item + shipping" of 100$ , a 10$ difference hopefully wouldn't matter,

this is the best you can get. It is made by seasonic so is reliable and is "true wattage" unlike cheap brands.
here is the one I would recommend for you (remember that the calculators assume you have a mid range PSU not a high-end one like a seasonic.)

i see you have linked to the 650W you do you believe that it will be fine? cuz the 750W is still under 100$

750W, Full modular for a nice price. but will it be good for a 780??? i do not wish to make that mistake.

that's just a bad unreliable and potentially unsafe PSU.
Always stick with ones made by antec, xfx, seasonic etc.. as they are true wattage!

xfx and seasonic are ones i've never saw in a shop where i live, but i've seen OCZ and the big names "corsair, Thermal, Evga ....etc"

i'm leaving this thread open for the 8 hours, i hope i get a definite answer by then

it would be better than the OCZ, see the reviews for both of them and then the facts that XFX is a re-branded seasonic PSU that ocz is made by "Great Wall"

so what do you recommand now? sicne XFX is just rebranded seasonic, should i go with it? or go with what??
for the time being, those two fall into my budget, "big names"
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ALK3KEM/?tag=pcpapi-20
http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-NEX750G-Certified-...

on a side note, the XFX is not modular, i wish to have cable management :(  and the two i linked get "amazon prime" all the better.

The EVGA is made by FSP who are mid-range along with CWT (Channel Well) and won't last as long. I have had both FSP and CWT fail on me and yet every PC I build with a SeaSonic PSU Has never had an issue.

how about this one? http://www.amazon.com/XFX-Watt-Power-Supply-P1650XCAG9/...

the first is good, with a good price point... but i'm looking for a bit more upgradability.

Getting the 650W leaves me no upgradability

For a system using a single GeForce GTX 780 graphics card NVIDIA specifies a minimum of a 600 Watt or greater system power supply that has a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 42 Amps or greater and that has at least one 6-pin and one 8-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors.

Total Power Supply Wattage is NOT the crucial factor in power supply selection!!! Sufficient Total Combined Continuous Power/Current Available on the +12V Rail(s) rated at 45°C - 50°C ambient temperature, is the most critical factor.

Overclocking of the CPU and/or GPU(s) may require an additional increase to the maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current ratings, recommended above, to meet the increase in power required for the overclock. The additional amount required will depend on the magnitude of the overclock being attempted.

The Corsair HX750 (SKU # 75-001218 / CP-9020031) power supply unit, with its maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 62 Amps and with four (6+2)-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors, is more than sufficient to power your system configuration with a single GeForce GTX 780 graphics card.

I was stuck on XFX because it's the cheapest seasonic you can get and it should last much longer than the rest.
