ran these exe's but still doesn't answer my question as to how to run PC with more ram installed without getting a bad pool caller error.
I ran the programs / the old ram installed

Those items can often clear up the error if bad sectors on the harddrive, or a corrupt windows file, might try resetting the CMOS as you mentioned the jumper should be identified in your manual - or simply unplug, remove mobo battery and let sit a few minutes, will have to reset date/time afterward.

ran the programs and reset CMOS everything was ok. error only comes up after the install of new ram. would it possibly be caused if buffered ram was used ( calls for unbuffered)

thanks for your help, I thought that might be the problem
Vendor I pruchased it from didn't specify buffered or unbuffered and I hadn't noticed it wasn't specified. Thanks again
