after overclocking gt540m the temp. goes upto 95 c is it safe?

Solution

Well assuming the 'M' on the end of that GPU card name, it would seem that you're OCing in a laptop... But even so, the key to OC a GPU is a good case that has lots of air blowing through it (obviously not a lot of options when it comes to Lapies) and that its is 95C, NO that is AWFUL.. Do not OC that gpu, because thats over 200F and thats just ridiculous for a component.. laptop or not.. You must realize that even if the gpu can take it. That metal expands.. so.. you're looking at cracks and intercomponentry getting fried, weaker, and even just breaking from heating up to 200F+ to 70F when not in use.. So you're GPUs...

Safe would be 80 C maybe a wee bit higher to like 83C but yeah...

Well make sure you're laptop is on top of a good surface so it can breathe.. But it would seem that if it goes anywhere over 100C then you really got a problem, just make sure you got a nice room temperature room with a flat hard surface to play on
