So earlier i was clearing up my hard drive and i uninstalled a few games, most notably Dirt 3, which after taking a while to install, i proceeded to play some batman arkham origins. A few minutes of gameplay into the game my computer made a weird buzzing sound in my earphones and the screen went blank, after a bit the sound stopped but i needed to restart my computer using the power switch.

I've tried almost all the solutions to fixing this problem apart from flashing my bios, and unfortunately i have no restore points from yesterday go backward, so i cant restore my pc to any useful points.

I've tried tomb raider and other dx11 games and the same problem happens, a few minutes into the game, a buzzing sound+black screen and a required hard reset.
Its most likely steam or directx11 but i believe the problems lies on my dx11 getting corrupt or something alone those lines. Unfortunately there is no way to repair/uninstall+reinstall the program so i'll never know for sure.

Also i cant find any bios updates for my motherboard as its a relatively cheap model

Computer specs:
Gigabyte GTX 760 2gb OC
Core i5 2500 (3.3 ghz, stock)
8gb (2x4) Kingston HyperX
ASUS p8h67-m pro/csm motherboard
500gb Western digital HDD

I just want to be batman :(

http://www.realtek.com/downloads/ -- select "high definition audio codecs", you have to agree to their terms, then it should go to the download list, but sometimes it goes back to the home page. Just repeat the navigation until you see the choices for download.

bios - http://www.service.asus.com -- go to downloads, then input just the basic motherboard model to search for yours -- the latest is P8H67-M PRO BIOS 3904 from 7-23-2013
As usual, make sure you have all the latest updates for everything. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your hardware. Make sure you pick up the latest driver for your audio device. It's probably Realtek. I'll get this reply up then go look up more details about your motherboard, and reply again if necessary.

I've had this problem crop up since back in the days of Intel's first dual core processors of 2004-2005. I've had the problem present on an Abit board with two different processors, like the Q6600, an Asus board with the Q6600, and this current Asus board with a 2600k. All the systems common denominators were a multitude of nvidia graphics cards, and Realtek onboard audio. I've also had this exact same issue crop up while playing other media, like streaming a youtube video, or netflix movie. I think the issue is related to the Realtek audio.

Do you have speakers/headphones connected to both the front and back ports? I have speakers connected to the front headphone jack, and 5.1 headphones connected to the back 5.1 audio jacks. I've heard another issue with Realtek is that you can get some pop and crackle when using both sets of outputs.

You can go into Control Panel, Sound, and then under "Playback" tab, you can disable any playback devices you don't use by right-clicking it. This may or may not help the issue, but it can't hurt. Consider it trial and error.

I got it working, finally.
After several more tries my computer kept telling me to reconnect my graphics card, so i opened it up and it turns out one of the two connectors (the 8 pin) was loose, so most likely the graphics card was losing power often, but wasnt saying so, instead the computer only cut off. I'm glad all is working but I hope my new 760 isnt damaged, only had it for about 2-3 months now.

Regardless, thanks for all your help, i really do appreciate it :)
