Rest of my build:
ASRock Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155 Intel Z77
Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz Quad-Core
SAMSUNG 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM 1600
Corsair Enthusiast Series TX 750 Watt ATX/EPS 80 PLUS Bronze
Monitors: 2x 1080p

Use: I just use my computer for gaming

I've been doing my own research and speaking in a couple /r/ on Reddit about this. Opinions tell me to with the AMD 290 over a GTX 770 or GTX 780 since the 290 is cheaper than a 780 but performs the same (with an upgrade to the cooler of course). My question is with my current card being old enough now, will any new card of this caliber (290 or 780) net me a significant increase in noticeable performance? Despite all the comparison stats, I don't care about a 15% difference between cards in performance, I simply want to know which will make for a better gaming experience. I'm also not tied to the above mentioned cards, they are just whats new.

Also with the new line out Ti and 290x, will there be further price drops in lesser (but greater cards to me) products? I also understand I could wait forever for deals, price drops, and "perfect" scenarios when dealing with computer hardware.

Any input would be greatly appreciate, as I have never been poorly directed by anything in these forums.

I would get a R9 290 in a heartbeat if it had better cooling solution. No such solution on the market yet leaving the GTX780 as my only option currently but only if gaming higher res than 1080P, at 1080P GTX770 or R9 280X would be my current choice.

The Gtx770 4gb or 2gb? Is there a difference worth getting one over the other? How "future proof" is this 770? 1-2 yrs?

For 1080P 2GB is enough, expect 770 being a decent upper mid range card in 2 years.
