I'm looking to upgrade my GPU.

Right now I'm running a SAPPHIRE 100311-2SR Radeon HD 6970 2GB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102918).

I'm thinking of purchasing an ASUS R9280X-DC2T-3GD5 Radeon R9 280X 3GB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121803).

Three questions:

1) Will this card be compatible with my motherboard and power supply?
Board: Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3
Power supply: Corsair TX750

2) Are there other compatibility issues I should be considering?

3) Will the performance increase from a Radeon 6970 to the R9 280X be significant?

Solution
The performance jump would be significant and im sure your PSU could handle it. the only other thing id say about compatibility is to say what CPU do you have incase of a bottleneck and does it fit in your case. Also, check the prices of some 7970's. the 280x is a re-badged 7970 and those may be on sale

I have an Intel Core i7-2600K CPU @ 3.4 GHz. Does that create any bottleneck problems?

Also just so I am absolutely clear - my motherboard is compatible, correct?

Yep it is compatible. you will also get maximum bandwidth for the card as the board is PCI-e gen 3 like the card. it should be a noticeable increase, and that CPu wont bottleneck at all. Remember to pick the ebst answer and close the thread!
