I accidently OC the GPU, now I have constant freezing.

Hi,
so yasterday I was running Dolphin at 1080HD and PCSX2 at x6 Native both 60FPS at the same time. everything was fine.
I have
Geforce GTX 660TI MSI Power Edition
Intel i5 4th Gen @3GHz
8 GB (2x4) Kingston DDR3 RAM.

so today I decided to install the drivers that came with the motherboard (gigabyte motherboard) and I installed Gigabyte App Center and EasySetup. I also installed MSI Afterburner that came with the GPU.

I restarted the PC, then I tried App Center, it opened EasySetup. I checked through the settings and found Power Saving Mode and Default mode, I accidently clicked on Power Saving mode, it told me the frequency is set to 0.8 ( unsure if CPU or GPU). Then I clicked on Default mode it told me the frequency is set to 3.2. I opened the Advanced setting, everything was set to my default GPU specs, 1019 MHz , 1500Memory (which is weird cuz the box says 6GHz Memory). I was adjusting through the specs and raised the Speed from 1019 to 1899MHz, then I forgot to set it back to default and hit apply, then random colors started popping on the screen, then the display turned off. The PC was still on. I held the power button for 5 seconds. then I started the PC again, ran the EasySetup again, and it showed me that everything was set to default.

I tried Dolphin (emulator) and what happened was, when I launch a game, it takes long to switch from black screen to the game's start, and when it does, the game runs at 2~5 FPS max. This happens for 20 seconds, then the FPS goes back to 60. Then as proceeding through the game, every loading screen the FPS drops back to 2, and it takes too long to advance to the next screen. then when playing, every 5 seconds the FPS jumps from 60 to 40 for a second, and freezes at the same time. This happens on all resolutions even on the lowest possible one (648).

So I thought it could be a Dolphin problem.

I ran PCSX2, and everything was fine, running at x6 Native, but I noticed that some areas that previously ran smoothly at 60FPS, such as areas with fireworks and explosions, run at 30FPS for a second then move on. Black screens run at 20FPS and the next second(1000 milliseconds) after the black screen runs at 10FPS then after another second 60FPS. So there must be something wrong somewhere.

I ran MSI afterburner test program that displays heavy 3D objects, and it ran at 98% GPU capacity, no freezes or lags whatsoever.

I decided to system restore to yasterday, and it worked. But the problems mentioned above are still remaining, MSI Afterburner got removed and all other apps too.

So what do you think happened?
Is the GPU/CPU damaged?

and how to tell if it is a GPU or CPU problem?

Maybe the GPU/CPU got downclocked? Or Damaged?

please help!

Update:
I just tried PCSX2 at low resolution, freezes at loading points. tried at maximum resolution, not freezing at all! How come?

Solution
The fact that it slows down so drastically while loading scenes sounds like a possible hard drive problem. It could be a total conincidince that your HDD decided to die the same time you OCed your GPU.
1899? That's insane. if stock is 1019, you almost tried to double the GPU speed. It probably didn't like that. You could have damaged your GPU trying to set it that high.

"on task manager shows system usage always 99% DISK)"

That isn't good either, that's usually the sign of a dying hard drive if it's at 99% usage and that will drag any system to it's knees, this could be an issue too"

The allowed clocking speed was upto 85%

and the DISK is never less than 50% (SYSTEM takes 32MB/s and is highlighted in orange).

any thoughts?

Changing the video cards clock speed from 1019 MHz to 1899mhz was a big nono and could possibly have damaged the GPU. At this point every thing neds to be reset to factory including the motherboards bios and install After Burner and make sure that the cards is set to factory.
Make sure that power saving mode is off. It may be that factory settings are the issue and the voltage may be need to be adjusted since it is the Power Edition they may have increased the voltage at the factory.
You could try calling tech support and ask the question about voltages.

Duuuuuuuuuuuuude! that's so it! I got me a USB 3.0 ExtHDD and copied the emulators and the games there. I got 20 FPS Boost and no more loading lag!

WHAT A COINCIDENCE!
