Trying to install windows 7 oem version on a new SSD. This is installed and recognised by the BIOS.

Changed the boot priority in BIOS to the DVD drive. Inserted the windows 7 disk
and rebooted.

But get the error message "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected device and press a key".

It seems that the BIOS doesn't recognise the Windows DVD as a boot drive to then install windows 7.

The motherboard is a few years old and is Asus P5K SE.

I did an online system compatibility check on the Microsoft web site and it said my system was okay for windows 7.

Help please....

The BIOS sees the DVD drive no problems and you can hear it spinning when the Disc is first inserted...

Where di you get the DVD ?? -- From your description it sounds like the DVD may have been made improperly and is not a bootable disk. From the error message you are getting it seems the system is trying to boot from the DVD drive but the disk that you have in the DVD drive is not a bootable disk.
