I recently just finished building my first build. I plugged in everything exactly how the manuals said I should, although when I went to install Windows 7 nothing happened. I my monitor just goes into sleep mode. I have tried everything to fix it. Different monitor, different slot, and plugging it in and out while it is on. When I unplug it, it says something like, 'please check video cable'. Then when I plug it in it simply goes into sleep mode again. I really need some help as this is driving me mad! My friend says that I probably got sent a bad video card, but I need to hear it from experts!
Here are my specs:

CPU - Intel Core i5-4570 3.2GHz Quad-Core
Motherboard - MSI B85-G41 PC Mate ATX LGA1150
Memory - Crucial Ballistix Tactical 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600
Storage - Seagate Barracuda 250GB 3.5" 7200RPM, Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Video Card - MSI GeForce GTX 670 2GB
Case - MSI TC- (Black) ATX Mid Tower
Power Supply - Topower 500W ATX12V
Operating System - Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)

Yeah I'd have to agree with Avro Arrow to be honest, Seems dodgy.

If it ain't the card it's probably the mobo.

You could always try with a different video cable / slot just to be sure however.

I know this may sound a little stupid but have you tried it with a different cable?
What cable are you using? HDMI/DVI or HDMI double end etc?

Also does your power supply cover the power costs of your hardware?

It connects to my GPU of one of those fancy HDMI to DVI converters... I'm not sure if that changes anything...

Yea that's what I was afraid of. I did try the other PCI slot but I guess I'm going to have to make a call to the supplier... Thanks for the help everybody!
