What are your thoughts on ddr4 ram?

Solution
In 2 or 3 years it will probably become mainstream. You won't even see it on a motherboard for a year, and only in the 2011 socket boards then, it will take much longer to filter down to mainstream boards.

Initially, it will be much slower than DDR3, just as DDR3 was slower than DDR2 for several years.

It will have little to no impact on gaming since memory is not a bottleneck for gaming in the foreseeable future.

DDR4 is a whole new animal, lower voltage, much faster, higher densities - DDR3 was originally specced from 800 to 1600 by JEDEC and it has progressed from there - DDR4 is expected to start at 1600 (maybe 2133, depending on where you hear it)) and run through 3000 (which prob means will see it up to about 4000 within 12-18 months)
