I just finished building a new machine using the Gigabyte Z77X-UP4TH. I decided to go with the AHCI controller. I am using the 6.0 port on the mobo which is connected to a WD 1 TB 6.0 drive. I have installed all the drivers from the Gigabyte web site. I am using 8 GIGs of Crucial Ballistic Tactical sticks. All memory test's have checked out ok. As the Windows disk check has checked out ok also. My CPU is the Intel I-7 3770. After using it for about one month I have noticed it is very slow and noisy booting up. My old Duo Core 2 CPU machine is faster than the new machine.
I also tried reinstalling the Windows 7 64 using the IDE controller. It is not as noisy and just as fast.
But the whole idea was to take advantage of the 6.0 interface. Can someone help me? Thanks for your time. don
