Please Help me with my pc its acting strange

Hello
So I built myself a new pc :

mobo :f2a55
cpu :Athlon x4 750x
gpu :AMD 7850
and 4 G of ram
the only old thing is the HDD

And the problem i have is that on some games and during the start up it's acting slow and studery
like in arma 2 when im supposed to be getting decent fps , i get 20
So i think i know the source of the problem, but I'm not sure of how to fix it
My HDD and the os on it are ancient :

XP professional ( pirated , i know i shouldn't have, but i had no money )
and the HDD is from some DELL DIMENSION 2003 pc

What am i supposed to do?
get an ssd or a new hdd or a new os or drivrers?
please help i would really appreciate
(ive posted this a few days ago and would just like to hear some more options as i tried the previous ones )

You'll definitely need to get a new drive and install Windows 7 on it, XP was awesome but should already be buried underground

In this case the acting up would be with the 10 year old hard drive, any new 7200 RPM drive like the WD Caviar Blue should do very nicely with a fresh install of Windows 7 x64

Also since you're looking at gaming, get 4GB more ram

I wouldn't build an entirely new gaming machine to only use Linux on it as the main OS :p

"but I had no money" is no excuse. When building or buying a PC, the OS is part of the cost.

That is exactly like "I only had money for 2GB RAM. How can I make it appear to be 4GB?"

If you don't want to bear the cost of a Windows OS, use a free Linux OS.

"Acting strange" is what quite often happens with a pirated Windows OS. Maybe all your passwords and such have not been rooted and sent off to elsewhere.
