Could I quad channel on this motherboard with a 8350:

I plan to OC my CPU to 4.8ghz..
Mobo:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

it would consist of 2x4gb 1600mhz vengeance with 2x8gb 1600mhz vengeance ram
adding up to 24GB of RAM

Could I do that?

yea sure, but it wouldn't be "quad" channel. you would still be running dual channel, except with more ram.

quad channel memory is only available on the x79 platform

You can't run quad-channel with that setup. Also, I wouldn't do that. It may not work out as you plan. Mixing RAM like that can actually affect performance negatively.

The DRAM runs at it's freq - period, 1600 runs at 1600 regardless of dual, tri or quad channel - where you pick up performance is that the system sees the DRAM (say in dual channel) as a single 128bit device, where it sees a single stick as a 64 bit device so it operates in larger chunks - dual channel can provide up to about a 10-15% increase in performance over single channel....also the chances of mixing a pair of 8 GB sticks and a pair of 4 GB sticks is low, probably about the best you could do would be maybe 1333 and will prob require an extra + 0.1 to the DRAM voltage and taking the CPU/NB voltage up to 1.25-1.3 (which means more heat)....and...if either of your sets are already rated 1.65 then you may be looking at 1.75 total which could fry something
