So I have a 128 GB SSD that I want to use along side my 1TB hard drive.
I originally got it for my laptop but it would get so much more use in the gaming rig.

Here lies the problem. I've been looking around this forum for some help on the basics of how to set this up and everyone says to hook up the SSD by itself and do a clean install. Then plug in the HDD.

I want to use a system image backup with all the games and drivers installed and get that on the SSD. But it's on a 100 GB partition on my HDD. It is my first system image i've created which saved my butt today after battlefield 4 just stopped working.

So is there no way for me to do this without having to re-download everything? Would it be bad for the SSD?

It won't be bad for the SSD. It will just be bad for your system, it will be an unstable pos and that's if you can even get it to work.

Look into flashing the latest firmware to your ssd too. As that can be a pain, it may only flash if it's secondary drive or if you boot from a Linux disc.

How exactly would it be bad for the system?

Also I just realized another point. If restoring the system image from the HDD to the SSD isn't recommended, that kind of kills the point of me having the back-up at all. Where else are you supposed to keep your system image if not on a second storage device?
