I need a laptop. my priority is ONLY performance multi-tasking. I dont care about graphics nor audio. i am running at least 5-10 programs or apps simultaneously and need high speed and performance to handle multiple tasks running simultaneously. Just adding ram is not enough and I am not interested in gaming.
Question
what intel chip is best?
what laptop is best? (I am not gamer)

any advice very very much appreciated...

PS i checked dell lenovo alienware msi razer blade etc but there seems to either be super expensive high speed laptops that ALWAYS have high-end bluray disk and expensive graphics card that i dont need. (i am price conscious) i just want massive ability to do multi-tasking with speed and stability. no need for nice pictures graphics not super sound nor games. pls help.

For Haswell generation quad core mobile CPUs you want to look at Core i7 CPUs with the MQ, HQ and MX designation; an example is the i7-4700mq.

Ultrabooks do not have quad core i7 mobile CPUs. In order to qualify as an ultrabook a ULV (ultra low voltage) CPU is required and none of them have more than 2 cores.

I also recommend you look at a resolution above 1366x768. That resolution is not good enough for multitasking because you can only see so many windows open at one time. I am considering buying a laptop next year a with 1920x1080 resolution screen which allows for better multitasking (at least for me). My 14" Lenovo Y470 with a 1366x768 resolution screen just does not cut it for multitasking purposes.

basically you are going to want an intel i7 CPU for multi tasking and a fair amount of RAM.
I am going to take a guess at your budget and find a laptop for you, tell me if it is above or below and I will try and accommodate.
Here are some options I quickly came up with
- Acer Aspire S3-391-9499 13.3" Ultrabook
- ASUS Zenbook UX32VD-DH71 Ultrabook - Intel Core i7 4GB RAM 500GB HDD+24GB SSD 13.3" FHD NVIDIA GT 620M Windows 8
- Toshiba Satellite U845W-S4180 14.4" LED Ultrabook - Intel Core i7 i7-3537U 2 GHz - Midnight Silver Aluminum probably the best, but a little expensive
-Asus TX300CA-DH71 13.3" Notebook - Intel Core i7 1.90 GHz - Silver
-Acer Aspire S3-391-9813 13.3" Ultrabook
- Acer Aspire S3-391-9695 Intel Core i7 4GB DDR3 Memory 128GB SSD 13.3" Ultrabook Windows 8 64-Bit
-SAMSUNG Series 9 NP900X3E-A02US Intel Core i7 4GB Memory 128GB SSD 13.3" Ultrabook Windows 8 64-bit

Sorry for all the options ;) just wanted to give you plenty of variety for any preferences you might have

Thanks! Will Def check those out! Follow up question... I noticed that for laptops not all i7s are quad-core according to Wikipedia?? ... So... if I have a choice between a 3rd Gen quad core i7 or a 4th Gen dual core i7, which should I get if I jus want power multi-tasking? Running loads programs same time? Appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance.

quad core will give you some improvement however the new i7 does offer an ivy bride if I recall correctly which is nice and hyper threading, its a bit difficult to choose really but both should do pretty well provided they are i7's :D
