Just made a new pc using a asrock mini-itx setup in the coolermaster itx 120 case..
due to the case being so tiny i really dont have room for any watercooling radiator or huge air cooler.
Im currently getting 42 idle C and almost 100 degrees C when I run intelburn stress test. using to stock cooler and no OC
Will this damage my chip?
Should i return the case for one will allow me to pop in a H80 or H100? I have 30 days to decide.
Also, i have some older 8gb 1333 mem im using from when DDR3 first came out. Performance wise, would it be a huge boost to get 16gb 2400 super fast memory?

I use this system primarily for gaming. Have a new 250 samsung evo ssd with windows 8.1 and a 670GTX.

Yes 100 degrees C will damage your processor. 90+ degrees is already pushing it for me.

If I were you, I would return the case for a medium size ATX, that has dimensions size anywhere from 7+ inches x 17+ x 17+ >>> Or a good size that can help you when you decide you want to upgrade next time. That will certainly help you with airflow. The ITX 120 case is small that just acts as a hot-sauna room. Compared to normal mATX/ATX cases, it doesn't have the best air circulation. Buy a water cooler or Hyper 212 Evo.

16GB of RAM is overkill for gaming, all you need really is 8GB. Unless you use this rig for other things - which isn't the case.

1s you get over 1600/1866 you wont see any performance benefits. as for the cpu get a better cooler. noctua do a decent low profile air cooler but i would recommend you remove the case fan and replace it with a water block, rad and fan. failing that tidy up the wiring so it doesnt impede air flow. get better case fans that push high cfm (although this can be noisy). but yeah dump the stock cooling and get a decent 3rd party 1.

I would love to add a water block but there is no room for the radiator without modding the case heavily. Your right about the wiring, just not sure where to put them lol. Are those temps dangerous to my CPU. System has been stable so far just a little worried when i see 100 C

Any suggestions on some newer nice cases. Must have USB3.0 close to front Not too big. And dont care about price.
