Hello everyone!
I was thinking of buying a NAS mainly as a central storage/backup unit for our home pcs. We have 2 desktop pcs and one laptop pc that we really need to keep synced and regularly backed up (documents, Pictures, Movies, Music). We also have 2 tablets (one ipad and a Surface 2) plus 2 smartphones (Iphone 4 + windows phone 8) and we would be happy with some sorts remote access from them, but this is not a "must". To be able to stream content to my WD TV play or apple TV would also be a plus.
The problem is that we have a 2-floor house and we use for this reason wifi network throughout the house. The router is placed downstairs but both desktop pcs are placed in rooms upstairs. There is no easy way to change the position of anything. The pcs are connected to the router at 130mbps according to windows control panel. To upgrade the wifi router is no easy option either because the tele-company we have "forces" customers to use their router that is preconfigured.
My question is- Is it worth to buy a good NAS or my network's speed would "destroy" all usability? Should i buy a cheap solution as the usb station 2 in that case? Would it provide some sorts functionality for my needs? Do you have other suggestions? I should mention that i would need at least 4TB to cover even future needs and that the budget is no limitation (as long as it is really worth spending the money of course).
Thanks in advance!
