I know this is quite a stupid question but i need to make sure of it. I Recently sent off my hdd which had a mechanical failure and the company said they would charge me £370 so i have asked for it back so i can gather the money, anyway does the chances of this recovery lower for the longer i keep it in tacked. In other words will i have less chance of recovering it if i leave it disconnected and wrapped in a box?

thank you

It will depend on your luck. I have recovered a drive of mine after 3 years of fault. So its hard to say that it can be done over every drive. But whatever you do, wrap it in a anti static bag. Good luck.
