Hello! I wanted to check out some of my deleted files from various memory cards and I downloaded about 8-9 demo versions of memory recovery software (ZAR, SD Card Recovery, iskysoft recovery, Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery, Disk Drill, PanteraSoft, Card Data Recovery, and testdisk). I used both Mac and Windows some of the software pulled up some really medically embarrassing [graphic] photos from a couple of years back. Even my identity is revealed since my name-tag was attached to the bed and my wrist.

Is it possible that the publishers/developers/software administrators of recovery software will have access to my files?
I know that these systems autosave progress and maintain a log of everything BUT how secure are the actual files since none of the software above came up for malware?
Also, I mainly use the Mac and my Malware/Virus protection is recently updated on Windows.

Is there a chance that all of the files have been sent over to a third-party (outside my administrative access of my personal computer) for safe-keeping/viewing or whatever? Or does the coding prevent the files from leaving my computer unless published or phished out?

Thank you to anyone in advance should you choose to respond back. I'm very nervous and regretting this dig from the past since those photos showed up.

Solution
No, those software are safe to use and not loaded with any kind of malware/Trojans. So you are safe the pictures will not go anywhere unless you choose to.

Your files are always only as safe as your AV software. Research the software you use and see how effective it is.

Also please be aware that the built in windows firewall only monitors outside access coming in and does not monitor things going out from your pc. You would need a 3rd party firewall to do that.

In the process of transferring my photos from an SD to a flash drive (the PC being the go-between for about 20 minutes of load time) using Zar, Disk Drill and Card Recovery, is the transfer copied/sent to Zar, Disk Drill and Card Recovery administrators or developers for "safe keeping" or whatever else? Has it ever been the case where a recovery software got hold of people's files during the recovery process? I mean, the software above came up clear for malware and other viruses and has been used and recommended by others but I'm still unsure how the coding works and whether or not the software administrators get the files when transmitted. The files were never saved onto my PC, just transferred between cards.

To add, Gatekeeper is on for my MacBook Pro 10.8.5 and my Windows 7 is freshly protected with both Avast and Malwarebytes.
