first of all , my specs :
i5-3570 3.4Ghz
GA-Z77 D3H Motherboard
Z77 Chipset
Cooler Master 212x CPU Cooler
AMD Sapphire HD 7870XT with boost @1000mhz
600 Watts Seasonic PSU

I have got a dual channel RAM kit
G.skill RipjawsX 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 CL9 1.5v

and G.skill Ripjaws 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 CL9 1.5v

tried both separately on a different computer and they worked fine , i was wondering if i could use them as 12GB (3 x 4GB) triple channel ? i will use the dual channel rams in the same coloured slots and the other one in a different one if i am correct

Solution
you can certainly use it, but it wont be "triple channel". only the x58 platform supports triple channel.

2 sticks will run in dual channel and the third one will be single channel; which is perfectly fine.

it may slightly reduce your ram's performance, but it wont really be noticeable in real world applications and light usage. if you really need 12gb of ram, then do it. Otherwise, there is no point, as you are only slowing your pc down.
