I'm currently using an fx-4100 with my GPU and I've been wanting to switch to intel for awhile. I'd normally go for the non S version, but a great deal popped up on craigslist where I can get the 4570s version for $120. So will it affect my performance if all do on my PC is gaming and web browsing? Games I'll be playing are Battlefield 4, Diablo 3, State of Decay, Skyrim. So will there be any major bottlenecks? And will I see massive improvements from the AMD chip?

Not to much. The proccesors are actually pretty simular so I wouldnt think you would get much performance. Possibly a little with battlefeild 4 though since it actually uses the cpu a lot more then most games

You will see a performance boost from going intel from that chip (bulldozer FX, poor architecture, worse than the old Phenom's). Piledriver FX (4300,4320,4350,6300,6350,8320,8350) do much better.

If your motherboard supports it I would go with a FX 6300/8320. Huge performance boost over your 4100, and matches the i5 K series in many tests/games and betters them in multi-threaded apps. Also much more cost effective since if you go intel you will have to buy a new motherboard too.

FX6300 beats I3 but not I5 so I want proof!

Ah sorry, was thinking about the 8320/8350 when I posted it. My bad.

Yeah my motherboard MSI 760gm-p21 is rated at 95W so I'd have to buy a new board to switch to the 6300 and overclock. So in both scenarios I'd be buying a new board + cpu. AMD is obviously cheaper going that route, but this deal popped up on CL and if it gives me the same (or better) performance than the AMD cards while being more energy efficient, it seems like no-brainer. I was just worried that the s rating would mean lower performance for games, but that doesn't seem to be the case going by the above responses.

If it's a steal (don't know the prices over there) then go for it. Personally I only tend to go for unlocked processors but it's just personal preference :D

Just checked prices - get that CPU :D You'll get more performance than you would from an FX 6300 which is similarly priced.
