Recovering files after diskpart/clean on windows 7/8 system than now has windows 7 installed?

I had a computer that was a windows 7/8 dual boot system, believed to have backed up the files before doing a diskpart/clean Windows 7 only install. Well, after installing Windows 7 I realized there was a lot of files missing. Is there a way I can go back and recover those files? I'm looking at different programs like tesdisk and partition wizard but I'm just not sure how to go about this.

If you only did a clean and did not do a clean all you have a chance of recovering some files using a file recovery program like RECUVA, although you probably overwrote at least some of the files with your new install.
