They are fairly close depending on the game. What games will you play? Here is some benchmarks for Battlefield 4

I didn't know you were trying to play crysis 3. You should be able to handle it at medium settings.

There really is no contest here. The GTX 660 and the HD 7850 are fairly evenly-matched performance-wise. Price-wise, it's a completely different story because the GTX 660 starts at $190 (-$20 rebate) for standard vanilla cards (MSi and Gigabyte):

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
While the MSi Twin-Frozr HD 7850 OC costs only $140 (-$30 rebate):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
So besides the fact that the Twin-Frozr is more advanced than those GTX 660s, it's also $50 less expensive before rebate and $60 less expensive after rebate. Depending on your tax rate, the savings are even more than that. You should get the Twin-Frozr HD 7850. However, if you have no problem paying the price of the GTX 660, then the HD 7870 would be the go-to card:

It's still less expensive than the GTX 660 and REALLY beats the tar out of it.
