i have a dell inspiron 15R 5521 with amd radeon hd 8730 series.....i had windows 8 pre installed and i upgraded to windows 8.1.......bt after the upgrade was successful i was unable to use my catalyst control centre.....so i checked for solutions on the internet and i cam to knw i need to update my drivers......i went to device manager and under display adapters i selected amd radeon driver and clicked on update and selected ''look for drivers available in my pc'' den i selected amd radeon hd 8730 driver and clicked on update in the hope dat it would update automatically........bt d screen blacked out and only thng i could see was my mouse pointer i somehow restarted my lappy and observed dat before every sign in as dell logo appears d screen blacks out for some 10-12 seconds and den welcome logo appears unlike previous occasions.....and i found out in my device manager dat my amd radeon driver wasn't working correctly i.e windows showed d following remark,......''''''Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)'''
guys plz help so dat dis short blacking out of screen stops and plz help so dat i m able to use d graphic driver properly again/........ ! plz plz plz ! :-C thnx in advance ! :-/

dude are u sure dis driver gonna work with windows 8.1 as i had d same version of driver which i un installed !.....i read many threads on d internet and i found out dat beta drivers have been launched by amd for windows 8.1 ! so plz suggest what should i do ??

okay bro.........i have started d download......can u plz tell me hw to properly install it.....as i don't trust myself as i have already screwed up my lappy ! :-( :p ty in advance !

ty bro !! dat was a bull's eye !!! bt d black screen problem still persists ! :-( still wen i login d black screen persists for 10-12 secs and den d welcome screen appears !!

I had the same problem but even uninstalling the drivers didn't work for me, i'd always run into a black screen after upgrading and even safe mode won't work and i had to refresh pc to solve the problem.

I think it is better to install a fresh copy of 8.1 than upgrading to avoid any conflicts.

another problem bro......
dis is wat haopened after the installation of new driver...
i got my catalyst centre back bt wen i went to play games like fifa 13 d amr lagged like hell/.....i uninstalled d driver and den u had two driver i.e. intel hd 4000 and microsoft basic display and nw i just tried to play my game fifa 13 and all went smoothly like it used to be in windows 8.................den i re installed d driver u suggested and again i tried to play d game after reboot bt again i faced d lagging problem.......lookslike my laptop is drunk ! :-/ i wish i shouldn't have updated to windows 8.1 !!! help bro !

dude bt my other games like nfs 2013 is working.......and nw i ran fifa 13 in compatibility mode for windows 8 so even dat is working correctly.....i just want to ask nw.....is my graphix driver working or nt ??
