Hello, my wireless adapter (ASUS PCE-N10) is 150mbps, yet I am locked on 135mbps.

However, my sister's laptop is locked on 150mbps? What shall I do to resolve this so it will be locked on 150, not 135?
Also, I'm getting full bars on windows, sometimes drops to 4, but it goes right back up.

He means if you only have a 25m internet or whatever....that is the fastest it will run. It does not matter what the speed between your computer and the router is the speed between the router and the internet will almost always be slower.

The rates you get are negotiated between the router and your PC. They will try to run as fast as they can.

150m means you are running 80mhz channels, narrow guard bands and MCS index of 7. The index number will be selected based on the signal levels.
135m you can get 2 ways. You could have 80mhz channels. Wide guard bands and a MCS index of 7 OR you can have 80mhz channels narrow guard bands and a MCS index of 6.. there are a couple other very unlikely combinations

So if for some reason you...

What kind of difference would it make though?

So if for some reason you have set your PC to only use wide guard bands you likely could change it to narrow and it would run at 150. Most likely you changed nothing and all it means is you do not get a good enough signal for the PC or router to use the highest MCS rates.
